Whale-watching in Baja, Mexico
We joined Baja Ecotours to explore San Ignacio Lagoon and meet the friendly whales with their pups. Scientists admit that the friendly whale behaviour is a mystery, and we witnessed this mystery close up. Whales approached the pangas (small fishing boats), swam along side, nudged their calves in our direction, and generally seemed to welcome our touch. And this after years of whale hunting during which these beasts were known as devil whales that would smash small boats and aggressively destroy their enemies. Now we trust them and venture among them freely. A mystery indeed!
