The Cattle Run
There we were, waiting to leave Pausada Rio Claro, already packed and out of our rooms, sitting in the open communication area, sweltering--we had an hour or two to wait until the sun slanted a bit and we could take the open truck to our next lodge. Sharon and I wandered out to see if there were any photo opportunities in spite of the heat---Sheri was steadfast in her hopes for better Burrowing Owl captures. We noticed the cattle and cowboys approaching. Pablo finds out that indeed, this is a special moment! They are rounding up all the cattle to usher them across the river to better grazing land, a roundup that occurs once a year, and we were about to witness it! The excitement was so great, we forgot to tell poor Janice, left behind with all our baggage, where we are going.
