Monkeys of Costa Rica
At El Remanso, a lodge in the Osa Peninsula, all four types of monkeys are easy to spot: Squirrel, Capuchin, Spider, and Howler.
The small Squirrel Monkeys are usually high in the treetops and hard to find, but several times then came down quite close to the road and we stopped traffic for a while to watch and photograph.
White-faced Capuchin Monkeys popped up during a long hike.
We saw Spider Monkeys swing through the trees with their long arms, legs and tails while walking to dinner.
Every now and then the Howler Monkeys set up a howl that carried for miles, usually at dawn or dusk--but often anytime during the day. As we were crossing the suspension bridge after a hike we happened upon a group that included a mom and tiny baby. Lucky!
