Below the Eagle was a Great Blue.
Satisfied that the interloper was gone, she stayed for a bit and then headed back towards the bank opposite the nest. I missed the takeoff . . .
I went back to the path, headed to the river behind the nest. A group of Mergansers flew by.
Just under the nest, a Downie Woodpecker was drumming.
I went back to see if the Eagle was still far downriver. He was. I watched Western Bluebirds fly to a snag mid-river for a drink.
When I arrived, I left the path to get closer to the river bend to my right. A barely visitible Eagle was perched far up river.
Suddenly a young Bald Eagle was chased in my direction by that distant Eagle. Territorial--even if this might be his or her offspring from last year.
