July 9 - My first day at the nest on Bootlegger Island, and she is clearly ready to fledge!
Off she goes to a nearby snag (missed the flight shot!) but then Mom drops a fish in the nest. Bad timing!
Cry Baby Bald Eagle
A few days later, I find her exploring the nearby docks on the mainland.
Sometimes Mom has to call for help feeding this baby.
She's getting better at take-off
Better at landing . . .
Dad drops off a meal
But the logistics of getting back to the nest can be difficult.
OSPREY taking off . . . adult male.
Wow, she flew so close she filled the frame!
I watched her bathe for 20 magical minutes.
August 12 - There she is, on the island RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE!
